Jason Raish Illustration

I am a freelance illustrator based in New York City. I also teach illustration at The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). I was born in Seoul, South Korea and came to the U.S. at the age of 3. After being raised in the forests of upstate New York I studied fine arts for 2 years at SUNY Albany, then 1 year abroad at Yonsei University in Seoul South Korea, and then started over at the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) studying illustration for 4 years. After 7 years in NYC I made a big jump in 2008 and moved to Beijing just before the Olympics, not knowing when or if I’d be back. It turned into a 6 year adventure living in Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul, Barcelona, London, and Paris, all while freelancing with old and new clients from around the world. Now I’m back in NYC in Park Slope Brooklyn, jogging around the park with our rescue husky, brewing beer, tending to my rooftop vegetable garden, cooking dishes from all the countries I’ve lived in, and of course, illustratin’ down in the digital coal mine with the shades down. I secretly wish I could exchange my drawing talent for Jazz piano talent, or to be able to wail like Al Green.
